These cryptic crosswords, which have previously been published in “Tableaus”, the magazine of Mensa Australia, were set by Sydney-based member Richard Blake.
A new one is posted here on the first of every odd month, two years after its publication in the magazine.
You may wish to enjoy the Extra Challenge that members are accustomed to: working from the clues only, first work out where the black squares and the numbers go in the 13 x 13 grid.
To do this, you need to know that the solution diagram has (what Richard calls) “cyclic symmetry through ninety degrees”. E.g., if the second square from the left in the top row is black, then so is the second square from the top in the far right column, and so on all round. Click on previous solutions for examples if you wish.
Solving some clues as you go can usually help with this.

However, in case the Extra Challenge is not your thing, the actual grid that goes with the clues (for separate printing out) is also posted here at the same time.

The solution is posted here a month later.
