Mensa was left a significant bequest by one of its members, Mr Richard Johns. Part of the income from this bequest has been allocated to provide book prizes for members who are studying undergraduate courses at University or other tertiary institutions. Initially, we are considering prizes of $100 each.
The purpose of these grants is to encourage university students to join Mensa and to be active in the organisation. We do not encourage people to join solely for the purpose of this prize.
It is hoped that all qualifying applicants will receive the award. However, in the event that the number of applications exceed the prizes, the awards committee reserves the right to use academic results and other criteria in selecting the winners.
The applicant must have been a Member of Mensa Australia for at least 12 months and be financial.
The applicant must have participated in Mensa activities in the previous 12 months.
eg attended an event, contributed to the magazine or an on line discussion group.
The applicant must have completed the equivalent of 2 years full time in an undergraduate course in the previous year and be starting 3rd year in the current.
This course must be their first undergraduate course.
Applications from members undertaking study at non-university tertiary institutions may also be considered.
Applicants must fill out and submit the application form (pdf file - click on this link ).
The closing date for applications is April 30th each year
